Bois tabac virginia
did you say Bois tabac virginia?
Bois Tabac Virginia is a woody Eau de Parfum, built around the notes of smoked vetiver and against a background of delicate and rounded tobacco. This fragrance renews the idea of the fern by offering a mixed and fresh scent. Bois Tabac Virginia is an ode to the perfumes of the 1920s.
Yuri’s rediscovered perfume, the fragrance is reminiscent of the vintage fragrances now disappeared, while still being refreshingly modern.
Bois Tabac Virginia was created by Yuri Gutsatz in 1967, but remained unreleased until 2018.
BOIS TABAC VIRGINIA COMING BACK TO LIFE
In 2017, Michel and his wife, the artist and writer Clara Feder, nurtured Le Jardin Retrouvé back to life, including a carefully curated selection of seven of Yuri’s fragrances. The response was so enthusiastic that they came up with an idea that had never been done before. They asked their online community to choose which of Yuri’s fragrances to bring back to life next.
Michel and Clara had hundreds of Yuri's meticulously recorded formulas and chose four to send out in a small discovery package of samples, labelled only with a coloured dot. As the votes came in, Bois Tabac Virginia, or red dot as it was labelled, didn't win (that accolade went to Oriental Sans Souci). However, such was the affection displayed towards Bois Tabac Virginia that Michel and Clara decided to also release this fragrance as well. Reworked by in-house perfumer Maxence Moutte, it could now be enjoyed by a new generation of fragrance fans.
"Such a delightful fragrance. As the name suggests, it's very woody, but in a fresh and green way. It almost has some sharpness and dewiness, just like a forest on a crisp autumn evening"
